Difference between Shopify and Shopify Plus

Shopify is a well-known e-commerce platform that millions of businesses around the world have used to create websites. You can choose between the basic Shopify plan and the more powerful Shopify Plus plan for your online store. Compared to the more expensive Shopify Plus plans, regular Shopify plans are better for smaller e-commerce businesses that care more about managing their inventory and keeping their payment processing costs as low as possible. Read Shopify's blog post about how to open an online store to learn more about e-commerce.

What is Shopify?

Shopify is in a league of its own regarding online stores. People love this one-stop shop because it has excellent eCommerce features, beautiful templates, and helpful customer service. Shopify is among the most popular e-commerce platforms, with over 1,400,000 websites using it.

What is Shopify Plus?

All of Shopify's most valuable features are carried over to Shopify Plus. The fundamental difference between the two systems is the target audience for each. Due to its low cost and extensive functionality, Shopify is a viable solution for businesses of all sizes. On the other hand, Shopify Plus is the icing on the cake for large businesses that need a more robust platform to handle their high sales volume.

Difference between Shopify and Shopify plus

With Shopify, local businesses can open an online store and sell their goods to a broader audience. It has quickly grown to be among the most well-known e-commerce sites in the world since its launch in 2008. Shopify is a popular e-commerce platform that helps its more than 15 million users set up shops online, sell their goods, and keep track of their customers. Shopify Plus is an add-on to the leading platform, making it easier for small businesses to manage their inventory, ship items, process payments, and advertising. Shopify Plus is an excellent option for a business that wants to sell on Shopify but doesn't have the time or money to build an entire e-commerce site. You can leave the platform and come back whenever you want if you decide you want to start a different business. Shopify Plus also gives new users a free trial to try it out before signing up for the paid plan.

Shopify vs Shopify plus features

You may build an online store with Shopify and sell your goods there. The Shopify platform lets you do a lot. One of Shopify's many strengths is that it has a strong sales team. The platform's sales team might help you close deals by learning more about your target market, analyzing how they use the site, and offering solutions to any problems they might have. The Shopify Plus features and Shopify's sales staff work together to help your business make more money. These options are easy ways to get more customers and make more money: With Shopify Plus, you get these three main additions: Giving your customers deals and discounts is an excellent way to increase sales. That will increase people's desire to purchase from you. Customers won't be angry with you if you don't force them to buy low-quality goods, and as a result, they'll be happier with the things they buy from you. This is due to the fact that most customers don't have a particular item in mind. Instead, they have a favorite brand or category in mind and are just looking for a specific item from that brand or category.

Shopify: Better for small e-commerce stores

Shopify Plus is not a good choice for small businesses because it costs more and has fewer valuable features. There is a monthly fee, but the functionality can be added or removed. Even a small business can grow without switching to Shopify Plus.

Competitive inventory management features

Shopify's different pricing plans have inventory management features, but the features available and the number of stores used with each plan varies. Shopify's Starter plan has basic inventory management features, while the other three have more advanced features, such as support for multiple stores.

  • Shopify Starter. One location.
  • Basic. Up to four locations.
  • Shopify. Up to five locations.
  • Advanced. Up to eight locations.

These strategies can divide stock between permanent and temporary sites, pop-up shops, and distribution centers. Shopify POS Pro is available as an add-on for $89 per month per location on top of the Basic, Shopify, and Advanced Plans for businesses that don't want different locations but want advanced options for inventory management.

Reasonable payment processing fees

Shopify's rates for processing payments are fair and depend on the package chosen. It works the same way as other paid plans that payment processors offer: the more expensive the plan, the lower the processing rate. When it comes to the number of transactions a small business does each month, the more expensive but all-inclusive plan may pay for itself because the transaction fees are lower. The Shopify Starter and Basic plans have the same low rates for accepting credit card payments, but the Basic plan also has more advanced tools for running an online store the way you want. Shopify Plus meets the needs of each business by letting them choose their processing rates. Although some businesses could benefit from reduced processing fees, this is not always true. It's also hard to compare the strategy's costs to other options.

Multiple user accounts

Most user admin accounts you can have with each Shopify plan are different. Shopify's most basic plan, Starter, doesn't allow more than one user, but the other three paid plans do. This includes setting up individual user accounts for the platform's back-end management and point-of-sale functions. Most of the time, the two administrator accounts that come with the Basic Plan will be enough for a small organization. Five user accounts are included in the Shopify Plan. This could be helpful for businesses with a large staff. On the Advanced Plan, you can only have up to 15 accounts. On Shopify Plus's POS, you may configure an unlimited number of employees. This is wonderful news for large enterprises, but it may be too much for some small businesses to handle.

Shopify Plus: Better for medium-size and large e-commerce stores

Better omnichannel sales features

With omnichannel analytics, Shopify Plus customers can monitor sales activity across all channels and observe their interactions. You can look at their orders, inventory levels, data, and more to see how they interact with your business across all channels. Even though Shopify's other subscriptions help small businesses reach more customers by letting them sell on social media sites like TikTok and marketplaces like eBay, none of these plans combine the data to make it easier to understand as a whole. These plans are great for startups because they let them focus on keeping customers and tracking data by channel. However, the complete analytics picture can't be seen until the Advanced plan is upgraded to Shopify Plus.

Better features for large operations

Companies should spend their money on Shopify Plus. Through the Shopify Fulfillment Network, customers who buy many items can use Shopify and the US Postal Service, UPS, or DHL to handle the shipping of many items. Websites can be enhanced with virtual reality and 3D product videos. They can also automate critical parts of management, such as the scheduling of sales and marketing campaigns and the decisions about what to stock.
